Emergency Power Off Tether:

Before you have an accident is the right time to think about safety! My control unit has a standard latching EPO button which will trip the the main contactor if pressed. This requires you to be in a position to press it, which may not be the case. The usual technique is to employ a dead-mans-handle, i.e. a switch or button which must be actively held ON for the power to be present. When you drop or let go of the the dead-mans-handle, the power is cut.

I have decided on a passive system to provide the same function as a DMH using a tether tied to your person. If you move away from the control unit, further than the tether will allow, the power is cut. Basically, anything from stepping backwards to falling over, will kill the power, stopping the power from killing you!
